Bio of Kates Bailey
Born and raised in Michigan, I grew up on the shores of Whitmore Lake. My mother was a flower child who made my prom dress and taught me to respect our Earth, and my father taught me the benefits of hard-work and determination. I played ice hockey since the age of 9, which lead to a collegiate career at RIT in Rochester, NY. There I studied Business Management, not having a clue what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.

Then I was presented with an opportunity. I was living in California at the time and just left my big corporate job. I made a decision that would change my life forever. I became a nanny in Canada, and in doing so I cut my salary by 70%.

Five years later, Kates Granola was born and is a collection of my experiences in living a granola life on a budget. I had never been more aware of my buying power, or how to use it. My goal is to create a movement in which people live a granola lifestyle, even on a budget, and in essence help heal our Earth.

Granola is a lifestyle, Green is a choice!

In sharing my story, I hope to encourage others to make the same transition I did, from under-informed consumers to well-educated buyers in our ever so changing global market. Doing what you love, helping the environment in the process, keeping your hard-earned dollars and living a happy granola life!
