Bio of Sundari Kraft
Sundari Kraft is the author of “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Urban Homesteading,” (Alpha Books). She maintains an urban homesteading website and blog called EatWhereULive. Sundari is the owner and organizer of Heirloom Gardens, a Neighborhood Supported Agriculture (NSA) project operating a multi-plot urban farm in northwest Denver. Heirloom Gardens provides weekly shares of vegetables to neighborhood families during the harvest season, sells at the local Farmers’ Market, and supplies produce to restaurants. In addition, Heirloom Gardens has an apprenticeship program focused on training new urban farmers to run NSA programs in their neighborhood. Sundari is the chair of the Denver Sustainable Food Policy Council. She runs the group Sustainable Food Denver, an advocacy organization which works to change local laws to support sustainable food production. When she’s not milking her goats or typing letters to City Council, Sundari works as an orchestral violinist. She enjoys cooking and dining with friends, reading, and hiking (with or without the goats). Sundari lives with her husband, daughter, 2 dwarf goats, 7 chickens, a chihuahua, and 2 cats.
